On 26th August 2018 (SriVilambi Aavani Avittam), Thirupavithrotsavam commenced in a grand manner at Thiruvallur Sri Vaidya Veeraraghavaswamy Devasthanam. Pavithrotsavam is the most important mahayagna in a perumal temple. It eradicates all the doshams in a temple that occurred throughout the year and fulfills the Thiruvaradhanam of Perumal during the year. On the occasion of Pavithrotsavam, special homam was performed in the Devasthanam. Perumal along with His consorts had Thiruveedhi purappadu in the evening. They were decorated beautifully with colourful silk pavithrams and flower garlands. Several astikas participated in the Pavithrotsavam and had the blessings of Perumal.
