On Day 10 (May 7, 2012) of the ongoing Brahmotsavam at Thirupullani,  Theertthavari utsavam took place. Whereas theertthavari takes place in all the temples where brahmotsavam are conducted, what is special at Thiruppullani? At Thiruppullani, theertthavari is done at Sri Adhi Sethu under the direct kadaksham of both Sri Kalyana Jagannatha Perumal and Sri Pattabi Raman. In all other temples, they celebrate theerthavari in the temple pushkarinis. Just because all our Acharyas have declared Sri Sethu as the total annihilator of all our paapams a dip on this theertthavari day alongwith Sri Sudarsanar, whom we surrender to protect us from all evils, and that too with the direct kadaksham of Perumal and Raman theertthavari uthsavam at Thiruppullani is very special.

Until last year, Perumal and Raman used to ride on Periya and Siriya Thiruvadi to reach Sethukkarai. But of late, several road crossing of HT power lines, the thich growth of thorny bushes all along the 4 KM road from Thiruppullani to Sethukkarai posed several problems and last year the umbrella was broken slightly damaging the tail of the Siriya Thiruvadi. The temple authorities, unable to get any assistance from EB or Highways, most reluctantly decided to dispense with the vahana purappadu and hence from last Panguni Perumal and Raman arrive at Sethukkarai only by pallakku.

After theertthavari, a very special alangara thirumanjanam was performed to Perumal, Raman and Chakkaratthazhwar on EkAsanam at the Jayaveera Hanuman sannithi at Sethukkarai.
