Bhadrachalam is pilgrim point, not only for Indians but for the entire world as it is the abode of Lord Sri Rama. The kshetrapuranam of Bhadrachalam is described in Brahmanda puranam. The main deity is Lord Rama with goddess Sita in his lap and Lakshmivan Lakshma to his left side. The Lakshmi tayar is Moksha Lakshmi here. The temple follows pancharatra agama.

The lesser known fact is that the Kshetra palaka is Yogananda narasimha swamy who shares the same Bhadragiri. The lord’s vigraha is not man made. It is believed that Narasimha might have come here on the request of either sages or gods. This temple is not mentioned in the official website of Bhadrachalam. In earlier days from Bhadrachalam to Rajamundry the route of transport was on the river Godavari. At one point, the boats could not move forward on peaceful river. And once these boats stop, loud voices were heard reverberating the hills and valleys.

Only after offering coconuts and harati these boats used to move. But in no instance there was report of any harm or accidents. Wanted to know why this happens, research minded scholars employed ace swimmers and searched the area. They found the Lord Narasimha in the water.

As he shouted to be heard – In colloquial telugu bobbalu pettadam this narasimha is also known as Bobbala Narasimha. The lord is in Yoga posture, but he was found with the Lakshmi pendant. He is worshipped is Yogananda Jwala Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy. He is beautiful and praying to him, visiting him and pradakshina are known to bestow health, children for issueless, health and prosperity. May Yogananda Jwala Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy be with one and all. Please visit this temple when you go to Bhadrachalam next time.
