Today, on the occasion of RathaSapthami utsavam took place in a very grand manner in Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar temple at Ponvilaindha Kalathur. Perumal came in procession from dawn to dusk in seven different Vahanams in different alankarams and different sathupadi. Early in the morning, Perumal purappadu started with Surya Prabhai vahanam with perumal in sitting posture with abhaya hastham and gadhai in other hand. This was followed by Sesha vahanam, during which Perumal gave darshan along with His consorts. The third one was Garuda vahanam, two big thirukodai during the purappadu, with majestic Garudazhwar holding the Lotus feet of Perumal looked so enthralling. The fourth Vahanam, Perumal came in procession in chapparam, with Sridevi, Bhoodevi Nachiyar and blessed the awaited devotees. The fifth vahanam, Hanumantha vahanam, Perumal adorned as SriRama with bow in one of His hands, looked beautiful.
Next was Hamsa Vahanam, sixth vahanam in which Perumal signifies that the devotees should be like Hamsa pakshi, which has capacity to separate milk and water. Devotees, who choose the right path out of the choices available and surrender to Him would be safeguarded by Him always. Perumal’s sathupadi with abhaya hastham and the other hand signifies complete surrender.
The seventh Vahanam in the evening, which was the last in the series, was Chandraprabhai vahanam. Perumal purappadu took place with His consorts Sridevi, Bhoodevi nachiyars. Deepa Harathi was performed for Perumal as a completion of the utsavam.
