Thirunakshatram of Sri Nigamantha Mahadesikan is celebrated grandly on Purattasi Sravanam each year in many divya desams and abhimana sthalams. Swami Desikan is an incarnaiom of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy.
He was born in Thoopul, in kanchipuram district. He lived in Kanchipuram for many years and composed many slokas /verses in praise of Sri Varadharaja Perumal and Perundevi Thayar. In thoopul, shrine is constructed for Swamy Desikan in Sri Deepaprakasar perumal temple premises.
This year, Thirunakshatra mahotsavam commenced today at Thoopul. Sravanam is on 15 october 2021, Purattasi–29, Friday.
