On the auspicious occasion of Ugadi (Telugu New Year), celebrated on March 18, 2018; Hevilambi Panguni 4(Uthiratadhi), Sri Venkadamudayaan at Tirumala had purappadu in a very grand manner. Sri Perumal and his consorts adorned beautiful pink Vasthras, ornaments and large garlands and blessed the devotees during the purappadu. Elaborate and beautiful flower decorations were done at the temple and Panchaga patanam took place as per traditions. Ugadi is celebrated on the day after Amavasya in the month of Chaitra.
Ugadi Utsavam was also celebrated in grand manner at Thiruchanur (Tirupathi). For that event, Sri Alarmelmangai Thayar purappadu took place on Pushpa Pallaku. She was decorated beautifully with garlands and appeared gorgeously in white coloured Vasthram with golden blue border. The highlight in that event was the Pallaku which turns all the heads towards its side by its wonderful design.
