On September 2, 2017 (Hevilambi Avani Pooradam), the first day (mudal kalam) of the Samprokshanam was performed at Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kodavasal. The temple is estimated to have been built in the late 9th century, by the Chola kings. With vedam and arulicheiyal goshti, the samprokshanam took place on a grand note. Astikas from in and around the village participated in the utsavam and received the blessings of Sri Varadaraja Perumal.
