Durmukhi Vaikasi Vishakam (May 21st 2016) there was Hanumantha Vahana purappadu for Kanchi Varadarajaperumal. At about 5.00 p.m. Varadan left on ‘tholukku iniyan’ for vahana mandapam.
The screen was closed and devotees who had gathered infront of the mandapam enjoyed the instrumental music while they waited. Music makes the mind lighter and the young and the old were seen nodding their heads and humming silently. At 6.00 p.m. Varadan clad in a light green printed attire with shining motifs was carried lovingly by Hanuman. Anjaneya, Vayuputra, Ramadhootha and Hanumantha are some of his names. Those who remember him will have a steady mind, strong courage and fearlessness.
Varadan The ‘Grateful Perumal’ blesses swami Desikan and Hanuman during every purappadu. Today as He mounted on Hanuman’s shoulders and came in purappadu a huge crowd was there in the temple and outside to offer their dandavat pranams to the ‘remover of sorrow ‘, Hanuman and ‘The Bestower of Boons’ Varadarajan.
