On February 8, 2016, Thai Amavasai, Sravana naksthatram, Thinga kizhamai (Monday), together marking the Mahodaya Punyakalam, was celebrated grandly at Thiruppullani. Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumal on Garuda Vahanam visited Sethukkarai before sunrise and at the time of sunrise gave kataksham on Sethu prior to returning to Asthanam (There was no theerthavari). The sethukkarai was decorated by HH Srimath Srimushnam Andavan (Srimathe Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan) and HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar (Srimathe Srivan Satakopa Sri Ranganatha Yatheendra Mahadesikan) and lakhs of devotees gathered to have the sethu snanam (holy dip) on this rare occasion. Mahodaya punyakalam occurs once in many decades and this year it is even more special with the acharyans present at Thirupullani for sethu snanam during this kalam (early morning today).
Tirumala-Tirupati Jeeyars, H.H. Sri Periyakoil Kelviyappan Sadagopa Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala along with HH Sri Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy commenced at Tirumala Periya Jeeyar Mutt.(Pedda Jeeyar and Chinna Jeeyar) visited Sri Ahobila Mutt at Thiruppullani and offered mangalasasanam there.

Great captures! For those of us who could not make it to Tirupullani,it gives the feeling of being there.
Please, guide us through setu snana rituals for smarta brahmins. In January of 2018 the guide took us to the ocean by Ramanathaswamy temple where thousands of people were bathing. My understanding is the guide was suppose to take us in a boat by the bridge.
