The celestial fete of Kartheeka Deepotsavam has been observed with religious fervour in hill shrine of Tirumala on November 25th 2015 evening which has donned a divine glow in the illumination of ghee lit mud lamps. According to Hindu almanac, Karthika happens to be the eighth month in a year. Lighting of lamps signifies “illuminating our minds by awakening the wisdom eye in oneself and get rid of our egos”. Especially on the full moon day which appears in this holy month, Kartheeka Deepotsavam is observed in both Shaivaite and Vaishnavaite shrines across the country. This celestial fete is usually celebrated in a religious manner in Hill Shrine of Tirumala also every year.

After the evening Kainkaryams, Kartheeka Deepotsavam was observed with religious gaiety in Tirumala temple between 5pm and 8pm. In connection with this annual festival TTD has cancelled Vasanthotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankara Sevas and monthly Pournami Garuda Seva. As a part of this fete, the Acharya Purushas lit ghee lamps in 100 new “Mookullu”(mud pots) starting from Parimala Ara located adjacent to Yoganarasimha Swamy temple. Later the lamps were lit at Kulasekhara Padi, Ramulavari Meda, Dwarapalakulu, Vakulamata, Viswaksenulavaru, Tallapakam Ara, Sabha Ara, Vendi Vakili, Dhwajasthambham, Balipeetham, Pula Baavi, Kshetrapalaka Sannidhi, Mahadwaram and out side the temple at Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Sannidhi, Swamy Pushkarini and Varashaswamy temple.
