Tiruther for Deepaprakasa Perumal of Thoopul
When we say Thoopul we immediately remember Swami Desikan. It is like a son outshining his father. The Father here is Deepaprakasar(Vilakoli Perumal) and The Mother is Maragathavalli Thayar. Today Aavani Sravanam the residents of Vishnu Kanchi had a Treat-Vilakoli Perumal and His Consorts came riding on the new chariot(Tiruther) offered by Srimadh SriMushnam Andavan swami. Following Them came swami Desikan in a palanquin a picture of humility and handsomeness. Is it possible to do justice to swami’s extensive contribution to our Srivaishnava sampradaya?
The residents in the Mada veedhis and sannidhi street stood with their offerings of fruits, flowers and camphor and enjoyed the soundaryam of Deepaprakasar in His colourful turban of pink silk decorated with jewels and silk robes covered ith ornaments and multi coloured flower garlands. Blessed were those who were present on this holy Avani Sravanam day to pull the ropes and offer their mite on the veedhis where the likes of Tirukachi Nambi, Ramanujacharya and swami Desikan have tread. It would be nice if more devotees participate. The involvement of the srivaishnavas who ensured the smooth run of the chariot is praiseworthy, particularly the wires going criss cross in yanai katti theru posed a challenge to the volunteers who used bamboo poles to raise the wires. Sannidhi street was easy and it was with a heavy heart that we bid goodbye to Deepa Prakasar, His consorts and swami Desikan.
