On, 16 January 2015, Jaya Varusha Thai Visakam; Being Kanu Pongal, Sri Namperumal Purappadu took place in grand manner at Sri Ranganathaswami Temple, Srirangam. On this occasion, In the morning around 7.00 a.m, Sri Namperumal Purappadu to Kanu Mandapam. Kanu mandapam is located in 1000 pillared mandapam infront of Tirumamani mandapam. Sri Namperumal gave beautiful darshan in Muthangi Sevai during purappadu. Azwhar Acharyas joins the purappadu to Kanu Mandapam and asthanam.
In the evening, NamPerumal in blue velvet embroidered with pearls came out of Kanu mandapam riding the golden horse.This is known as kanu Parivettai. Pari means earth and vettai means hunting. Perumal goes to hunt souls who surrender at His feet and and make them His own. Devotees thronged in huge numbers and waited for Perumal to emerge out of the thousand pillared mandapam and ran along with Him to admire the majesty of His horse riding form and to enjoy His alankaram which is ever new. Many bhaagavathas joined in the thiruveedhi purappadu during Kanu parivettai. Lot of astikas took part in the purappadu and had the blessings of Sri Namperumal
