Today Panguni Punarpusam is an important day in the Hindu calendar, for this is the day SriRama chose for His avatharam as the eldest son of Dasaratha. Among the ten avatharas SriRamavathara occupies pride of place as this is a Poornavathara and Perumal illustrated by His action the Dharmic way of life. Swami Desikan calls Him as :”Dharmo Vigrahavan dharma:”By remembering and recalling the path shown by Seetha Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha and Sathrugna we can learn valuable lessons and try to emulate them
At SriRangam Dasavatharan Sannidhi one gets to have darshan of all the ten avatharas at one go thanks to TirumangaiAzhwar.Today,08.04.2014, in the morning at about 7.30 a.m. Vishesha Tirumanjanam was done to SriRama who stands tall among the ten holding His famous bow. Sesame oil was applied on His Tirumeni,and washed off with shika powder. Milk, curds, honey, turmeric powder,snana powder, raw coconut water were used during Tirumanjanam. Additionally there was Tirumanjanam for utsavar Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha and Rama Seetha vigrahams. Lakshmi Nrisimha Tirumanjanam is performed every Tuesday as per a devotees request.Devotees had the SriSathari at Tirumangai Azhwar sannidhi, Swami Desikan Sannidhi, AdhiVan Sathakopan Sannidhi and at the Brindavanam of 41st and 44th Srimadh Azhagiasingar. Then Satrumurai took place at the main sannidhi followed by Perumal Theertham, Sri Sathari and Prasadha Viniyogam((Panakam, vada paruppu and sakkarai pongal).
