Today, October 12, 2013; Vijaya varusha Purattasi Pooradam, was Day 6 of Swami Desikan’s 746th Thirunakshatra Mahotsavam at Ul Desikan Sannidhi, Srirangam. As Veda parayanam and Divya Prabhandha Parayanam was on bhaktas had the bhagiyam of seeing Tirumanjanam for Swami Desikan. Above the beautiful archA thirumani of Thoopul vallal were all the perumals blessing and looking proudly at Vedantha Desikan. Hayagrivan, Lakshmi Nrisimhan, Lakshmi Narayanan, Narthana Krishna, Lakshmi Hayagrivan, Nammazhwar, Ramanujacharya and three Sri Satharis were at a level higher than Swami Desikan and Thirumanjanam was done to all the deities.
At 2.45 pm, Thirumanjanam began. Theertham, curds, milk, honey turmeric were kept in 9 silver pots placed on the sacred darbha which was laid on rice. After sankalpam and mudras, Theertham was poured over the deities, followed by curds, milk, mixed fruits (maduparkam) and honey. The fruits were collected in a vessel after which Thirumanjanam was done with theertham. Turmeric was applied, followed by sandal paste. The deities were adorned with flower garlands. Sahasradhara Thirumanjanam was done by three aradhakars and when Hayagriva swami was placed on the silver sieve and held over the head of Swami Desikan it was a sight to behold. After Thirumanjanam the curtain was drawn for alankaram. Harathi was done, Satrumurai was followed by Theertham, Sri Sathari and Prasada Viniyogam (Halwa and Maduparkam that was used for Thirumanjanam). Tommorow is Purattasi Sravanam. Special Satrumurai will be there and the Mahotsavam will start at 8 am.
Swami Desikan who obtained the grace of Hayagriva and Garudazhwar at Thiruvahindrapuram came back to Kanchi and as taught by Apullar did Bharasamarpanam at the feet of Varadaraja Perumal and Perundevi Thayar. Swami lived at Thoopul and gave Ubhaya Vedanta Grantha Kalakshepams. Swami Desikan composed Nyasa Dasakam, Varadaraja Panchasath, Addaikalapathu, Artha panchakam, SriVaishnava Dinacharya, Thiruchinnamalai, Pannirunamam, Athihigiri Mahatmyam, Sarangathi Deepikai, Vegasethu Stotram, Ashtabhujashtakam, Kamasika Ashtakam and Paramartha Stuthi while at Thoopul.
