Today, Vijaya Adi Rohini, Ekadashi, 2nd of August 2013, Srimath Azhagiyasingar Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan was on day 12 of Chaturmasya sankalpam. Adi Rohini happens to be the Tirunakshatram of HH 22nd Srimath Azhagiasingar Sri Van Sathakopa Sriman Narayana Yathindra Mahadesikan. His Avatharam was at Gadhadharapuram. HH 22nd Srimath Azhagiyasingar accepted Sanyasa Ashramam in Eshwara varsham, Margazhi Sukla Panchami(1758 January). He ascended to Paramapadam at Palamedu in Bahudanya Varsham Aadi Krishnapaksha Shasti thithi (August 1758). Asthanakaalam was for 7 months.
Today morning Abhigamanam was done as usual. After satrumurai and Theertham Sathari, Srimadh Azhagiyasingar got ready for doing Samashrayanam while Goshti Viniyogam was done by Madapalli kainkaryaparas (Today it was arisi upma and Kesari). Shishyas desiring to do Samashrayanam request for the same a day in advance and line up infront of the Swarna Mandapam. Kaikaryaparas get the shanku and Chakram heated for thapa Sanskaram. Srimath Azhagiasingar places the shanku and chakram on the shoulders of the shisyas. This is followed by Pundra Samskaram. HH places Tirumankaapu in twelve spots for men and on the forehead for women. After Samashrayanam one can don the Dwadasha Tirumans and woman can apply SriChurnam and Tiruman at the bottom in the shape of a half-moon. Srimath Azhagiyasingar from the swarnasimhasanam gave Mantropadesham to the shishyas who have just taken the tapam and Pundram. The whole procedure of mantram is taught verbally and Srimath Azhagiyasingar pauses when His thaniyan has to be chanted. This is done by one of the kainkaryaparas. Men are initiated into Aradhana Vidhi and get upadesham of Srimad Ramayana and Bhaghavad Geetha. At this point they get Sripadha Theertham of Srimath Azhagiyasingar. Those who are in the vicinity can also get Sripadha theertham. The devotees seeking Samashrayanam should come in swaroopam with madivastram and should not eat anything till the samashrayanam is over and the Sambhavanai is done. As soon as Pancha samskaram is over Kainkaryaparas wait with the prasadams and leaves to serve them Abhigamana prasadam. Next Bharanyasam was done and Srimath Azhagiyasingar returned to the ashram. Unless it is an emergency samashrayanam and Bharanyasam are not done on Dwadashis because of the dwadasi aradhanai time constraints. Today being Ekadashi, special Vedaparayanam was done.
