Bhoomi Puja for TTD Sri Venkateswara Temple at Kanyakumari


The ceremonious Bhoomi Puja was performed with religious fervour in the city of Kanyakumari on June 4th,2013 (Tuesday)  for the construction of the new temple of Lord Venkateswara by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). This ceremony was performed in conformance to Vaastu Shastra as per Vaikhanasa Agama by a team of priests between 6am to 8am. The priests rendered Maha Sankalpam in the yaga Sala and performed celestial Homam seeking the blessings of Goddess Earth (Bhoomi Devi)   before starting up the construct works of the massive Lord Venkateswara temple which is coming up in the sprawling 4.5 acres of land at a cost of Rs 22.5crores. The temple is expected to be completed next year (2014).

Apart from the Lord Venkateswara temple, there will also be a temple for Goddess Padmavathi Devi and a temple tank (Swamy Pushkarini) on the lines of Tirumala temple.  With an aim to protect Hindu Sanatana Dharma, a  Goshala (cow shed), Veda Patasala (spiritual vedic schools), Potu (temple Kitchen) and Anna Prasada Bhavanam (free mass feeding centre) will also be taking shape in this huge piece of land. The place has been named as TirupatiPuram by TTD after the puja.

Earlier on May 29th 2013, TTD inaugurated a temple of Lord Balaji in country’s capital ( Another temple will be coming up in the historical city of Kurukshetra. Further, on June 3rd, 2013 the Uttarakhand CM has donated an acre land in Dehradun to TTD for construction of a temple.
