23 Temple Duvadasa Garudasevai in Thanjavur

Perumals of 23 temples in and around the town were taken in a procession on Garuda Vahanam as part of the Duvadasa Garudasevai held in Thanjavur on last Saturday, 9th of June.

Beautifully decorated Perumals on Garuda Vahana were led by Thirumangaiyalvar on Hamsa Vahanam. Starting from Vennar banks, Perumals were taken in procession on east, south, west, and north main roads.

Neelamega Perumal with His consort on Garuda Vahana came first followed by Veera Narasimha Perumal and Manikunna Perumal.

Other Perumals taken in procession were Velur Varadaraja Perumal, Kalyana Venkatesa Perumal, Yadava Kannan, Yoga Narasimha perumal, Kothandaramar, Varadaraja Perumal, Kaliyuga Venkatesa Perumal, Ramaswamy Perumal, Janardhana Perumal, Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, Govindaraja Perumal, Ranganatha Perumal, Vijayarama Perumal, Navaneetha Krishnan, Manambuchavadi Navaneetha Krishnaswamy, Manambuchavadi Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, Kothandaramasamy Perumal of Palli Agraharam, Lakshmi Narayana Perumalof Sunkanthidal, and Venkatesa Perumal of Karanthai.

Hundreds of people witnessed Garudasevai in the four main streets of Thanjavur. Bhajans and dance by devotees formed part of the festival. Pandals were put at various places on South Main Street to receive the Perumals and offer pujas. Prasadams were distributed to devotees. Buttermilk was supplied at various places.

Navaneetha sevai was held on Sunday. Garudasevai is held at Nangoor near Sirkazhi and Kumbakonam, but only in Thanjavur 23 Perumals take part.
