Today, December 13, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Karthigai Ashwini, Vaikunta Ekadasi was celebrated in a grand manner at Thirucherai Divya Desam, situated in Thanjavur District and also known as Panchasara Shethram. Early this morning, utsavar Sri Saranatha Perumal, in resplendent rathnangi alankaram, was taken procession within the praharam and Achitrathi margam. Vedam and Arulicheyal was recited in the Nalu Kal Mandapam. After that, Perumal had purappadu through the Paramapatha Vasal, followed by several devotees. Thereafter, mangalasasanam of the Azhwars and Acharyars took place in grand manner. Particularly, Nammazhwar Thiruvadi Thozhal was a sight to watch. Vishesa Dasavathara Alangara Seva for the Utsava Moorthis is the special highlight during the occassion. Several astikas from different parts took part in the Ekadasi Purappadu and had blessings of Acharyas, Thayar and Perumal.
While Vaikunta Ekadasi for this Vijaya Varusham falls on January 11,2014, Thirucherai celebrated this Ekadasi as the Vaikunta Ekadasi as the temple’s annual Bramotsavam will be celebrated next month during that time.
