Uthiramerur is an ancient village well known for its temples, architecture, sculptures and stone inscriptions. A king called Nandivarma Pallavan donated this whole town to 1200 vedic scholars who settled down here. Those days this place was called Uthiramerur Chaturvedhimangalam. The main temple here is for Sri Sundara Varadaraja Perumal which is said to be built in 750 AD during Pallava rule. This is one of the few temples where you can have dharshan of Perumal on all his 3 forms. On November 25th 2015, Thirukarthigai Deepam and Thirumangai Azhwar Thirunakshatram was grandly celebrated at this temple. Grand Satrumurai and Sevakalam took place. Later Karthigai Deepam was lit in all the Sannadhis and Divyadampathis and Thirumangai Azhwar had Ul Purappadu.
