March 24th 2016 Thursday that is Panguni Hastham was the culmination of Panguni Utthiram celebrations at Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal koil. The rush on this day was at Perundevi Thayar sannidhi to have darshan of Varadan, ubhaya nachimars, Andal, Malayala nachiyar and ofcourse Perundevi Thayar (moolavar and utsavar).
Like the previous day there was a long wait outside Thayar sannidhi and devotees braved the heat to have this ‘adbhutha sevai’.
In the evening at about 6.00 devotees waited to see Perumal emerge with ubhayanachimars from Thayar sannidhi followed by Perundevi Thayar who joined Him. Following Them were Andal and Malayala nachiyar. They all stopped at swami Desikan sannidhi and accorded ‘maryadhai’ to paramaguru. After this ‘pathi-ulathal’ took place. This was a magnificient sight. Perumal in His shiku-thaadai(deep pink turban with hair ornaments and a beautiful tiara) and Thayar in dazzling tiara captivated everyone. Andal and Malayala nachiyar wore tiaras too and only ubhayanachimars wore crowns. ‘Gandhapodi’ was given to everyone and the smell was good. After doing the rounds in the dwajhasthamba area. Perundevi Thayar and Varadaraja Perumal entered Tondaradipodi followed by Andal and Malayala nachiyar. ‘Ghata harathi’ and ‘karpoora harathi’ was offered to all of Them. Then Andal and Perundevi Thayar went to Their sannidhis.
Tirumanjanam took place for Perumal and Malayala nachiyar at the ‘kanadi-arai’ mandapam ‘yatha-vidhi’. Thereafter Perumal and Malayala nachiyar came in ‘oorkolam’ on sannidhi street and the mada veedhis. After returning to the temple Malaya nachiyar went back to sannidhi and Perumal went to Atthigiri after exchanging garlands at Andal sannidhi.
