On November 9th 2015, Pavithrotsavam concluded on a religious note with Purnahuti in the ancient and famous shrine of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram on Monday. According to the Agama Shastras, Pavithrotsavams are held each passing year to restore the sanctity of the temple by washing away the sins committed all year long by the visiting devotees as well as the temple staff through Aalaya Sudhi and Punyahavachanam. On first day Pavithra Homam, second day Pavitramala Samarpana and third day Purnahuthi are usually observed by the priests. On Monday, this purification ritual commenced with rendering of ‘Suprabhatam’ followed by ‘Sahasranamarchana’ followed by Purnahuti. Later, the processional deities were taken to ‘Yagasala’ and special ‘Aradhana’ and ‘homams’ performed before conducting ‘Maha Purnahuthi’.
