17/9/2015 was the 3rd day of Thoopul Swami Desikan’s Manmatha varusha Tirunakshatram. In the evening Swami Desikan came in Chandra Prabhai vahanam. It being the 1st of Purattasi there was purappadu for Varadaraja Perumal and ubhaya nachimars on sannidhi street. When Perumal was in Tiruvadi-koil Swami Desikan arrived and waited patiently till Perumal’s purappadu moved a safe distance. He followed Varadaraja his favourite deity. The greatest of devotees was clad in a flowing white silk with red border. The two umbrellas above were white and red, as also the tiruman and swami was in the centre of the white moon.He wore a crown of pearls. The waxing moon on the sky looked down to see the procession preceeded and followed by srivaishnavas in white veshtis singing the glory of Deva Perumal and swami Desikan. White incidentally represents satvikness and generates a sense of peace and harmony. Devotees did not know whether to watch Perumal’s ‘pathi ulathal'(after entering the temple Perumal makes two rounds around dwaja sthambam and stands at the four pillared entrance to accept harathi and prasadam offerings. The first round is with Vedam and the second with naadam) or stand at the gopura vasal to enjoy swami Desikan waiting in chandra-prabhai. Before returning to aasthanam Perumal stops at Sri Andal sannidhi where His garland is put around Her neck and then He wears the garland worn by Her.
