Perunkarunai, a village in Ramanathapuram District of Tamilnadu is the Avathara sthalam of Selva Nambi, the Vaishnavite Acharya, who helped Sri Periyazhwar to establish Sri Narayana Parathvam at Pandian sabhai and also the preceptor of the Pandya King Srimaran Srivallabhan. Selva Nambi recited the Bhagavatha Purana to the king Vikrama Pandiya and concluded that those who listen to this Purana will be saved from all evils and “That this dharma should be understood by everyone in the future”. Having listened to this recital, the king was blessed with a son Sri Vallabhan (who was known as Vallabha deva). Delighted king built the Varadaraja Perumal temple in Perunkarunai. He also donated several villages for the maintenance and upkeep of the temple and the festivities at the temple.
In order to make this temple not go extinct to the next generation, Asthigas gathered and formed a trust named Sri Sundara Varadharaja Perumal Seva Sangam (Reg. No: 30/2013) and are looking to perform Various Kainkaryam
The trust was incepted in 2013 and following are the kainkaryams performed till date.

This year as well with the grace of Dhivya dhampathis and acharyan, we have planned to celebrate this utsavam in a grand manner at a cost of Rs.2.5 Lakhs. The invitation for the utsavam is attached. We request srivaishnavas to participate in the utsavam and be the best to obtain the blessings of Thayar and Perumal.
