Yesterday, 14 February 2014,Vijaya Thai Ayilyam,; is the concluding day of Bhupathi Tirunal. NamPerumal left in AalumPallaku at 8.00 p.m.from Vahana mandapam. AalumPallaku is a long palanquin covered with silverfoil and decorated with jasmine, asters(samanthi) and vrikshi(red flowers). At the front could be seen a picture of NamPerumal with ubhaya nachimars, shanku, chakram and tiruman. In the centre stood NamPerumal draped in white silk bordered with zari, bedecked with emerald pendants and a series of pendants and wearing a golden longish crown and a garland in which the redvrikshi flowers dominated.
The vrikshi flower of SriRangam is believed to be a devotee of Krishna in Dwaparayugam who was blessed by the Lord to be born such. As NamPerumal came out swaying from side to side along the Uthira veedis devotees thronged to have a glimpse of Him and ran along with the pallaku to look at Him again and again. With this the Thai Ther Tirunal came to a conclusion . We have to wait till 2015 for the next Thai Uthsavam but festivity never stops in SriRangam and the next major festival to come is MasiTheppotsavam which starts from the 3rd of March.
