Thiruchanoor Sri Padmavathi Thayar Karthiga Brahmotsavam: Day 5

As part of the ongoing Karthiga Brahmotsavam at Thiruchanoor Sri Padmavathi Thayar Sannidhi, Day 5 utsavam was celebrated well with purappadu for Thayar on Pushpa Pallakku (in Mohini Alankaram) and Gaja Vahanam today (December 3, 2013). The morning purappadu for Thayar in Mohini Alankaram took place around the Mada Streets. Thereafter, the procession of Sahasra Kasula Mala from Tirumala to Thiruchanoor took place. This malai was adorned by Sri Padmavathi Thayar during the Gaja Vahanam purappadu in the evening. Being one of the most famous ornaments in the jewel treasury of Lord Venkateswara – the Sahasra Kasula Haramis usually adorned by Sri Malayappa Swamy on Garuda Seva day during Purattasi Brahmotsavam as well during Pournami Garuda Seva every month. The procession of Haram started from Tirumala and after reaching Pasupu Mandapam at Thiruchanoor, the Tirumala TTD official handed over the jewel to his Tirupati counterpart. The jewel was taken on a procession along the four mada streets of Thiruchanoor before being kept at the lotus feet of Thayar. This special jewel will be adorned by Thayar during Garuda Vahanam on Wednesday evening as well. In the evening, Vasanthotsavam for Thayar was performed at Mukha Mandapam followed by procession around four mada streets. Thereafter, Thayar adorned the Sahasra Kasula Haram brought from Tirumala during the swarna Gaja Vahanam purappadu. Several devotees participated in the utsavam to get Thayar’s anugraham.

On November 30, 2013, Dwajarohanam took place in the morning. On November 28, 2013, Ankurarpanam and Senadhipati (Vishvaksenar) Utsavam took place in the evening. The 9-day utsavam will conclude on December 7, 2013. Some of the important utsavams are Garuda Sevai on December 4, 2013; Rathotsavam on December 6, 2013: and Panchami Theertham on December 7, 2013.  On the concluding day, the Padmasarovaram, the temple tank in the abode of Goddess Padmavati, turns into a sea of devotees with tens of thousands of pilgrims hailing from across the country participating in Panchami Theertham. The religious occasion of Panchami Theertham marks the auspicious birth day and celebration of the manifestation of Sri Padmavati Devi in a Golden Lotus in Padma Sarovaram on Sukla Panchami of Karthiga month.
