The annual float festival ‘Theppotsavam’ was celebrated at Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple tank (Pushkarani) in Tiruchanur here for 5 days from Wednesday, June 19 ,2013 to Sunday, 23rd june, 2013.
The Utsava murthis are taken around in a colourful procession on a flotilla in the ‘Padma Sarovaram’ tank from 6.30pm to 7.30 pm. It said that the Goddess was appeared in a golden lotus as a child in this same tank and hence this very tank is considered her place of birth.
Rituals are performed to Goddess Padmavathi as per the procedures enshrined in ‘Pancharatra Agama’ doctrine during the five days. On the first day, the deities of Sri Krishna, Rukmini and Satyabhama are taken around, while it is the turn of Sri Sundararaja Swamy on the second day.
Goddess Padmavathi was on the flotilla on the last three days.
The Goddess was also carried in a procession on the Mada streets on ‘Gaja Vahanam’ and ‘Garuda Vahanam’ respectively on June 22,2013 and june 23, 2013 .
