TTD Srivari Temple Inauguration at New Delhi Tommorrow


Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made arrangements for the opening of the Srivari Temple and Dhyan Mandir in the country’s capital which is slated for May 29 and 30, 2013 respectively. The temple and Dhyan Mandir have been constructed in Udyan Marg located in Kalibadi area in New Delhi. With this, the people of New Delhi will have the blessings of Lord Venkateswara as Srivari Temple.

There will be a five-day religious ritual as a prelude to the temple opening ceremony. The special rituals commenced on Friday, May 24 with Ankurarpana mahotsavam (which is usually performed seeking the success of the programme). TTD Archaka (Priest and Agama scholar) Sri Srinivasacharyulu said the Panchahnika Mahotsavam (Five-Day Ritual) commenced on Saturday (May 25, 2013) wherein Archana, Agnipratistha, Mahakumbha Sthapana, Chakrabja Mandala Rachana Dwara Thorana, Parivara Devatha homa etc. have been performed in a religious manner followed by Purnahuti, Mangala Harati, Teertha-Prasada gosthi and Jaladhivasam. On May 29 the day commences with important rituals like Prana Pratistha and Vigraha Pratistha mahotsavams followed by the Prana Pratistha mahotsavam of Lord Sri Venkateswara, Goddesses Sri Mahalakshmi, Bhu Devi, Sri Garudalwar and Dhwaja Stambham-the temple pillar. In the noon there will be distribution of Teertha(holy water) and Prasadam followed by spiritual discourses in the evening. On May 30, the inauguration of Dhyan Mandir will take place. There will be spiritual discourse on Srimad Bhagavatham and Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavam from May 29 to 31 between 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

On June 1, 2013, there will be Srinivasa Kalyanam, the grand celestial wedding ceremony of the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy and his Consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi will take place in the Sri Venkatewara College Grounds in Dhaula Kuan.

Land for the temple was allotted to TTD in this busy area in the country’s capital almost 15 years ago by the central government. The cost of the construction of the temple then has been estimated to be 1.5cr. A replica of Tirumala Shrine has been constructed in the heart of this city. Apart from this, a Dhyan Mandir-meditation hall has been constructed. Traditional cultural programmes and spiritual programmes will be organised in this building located adjacent to the temple. The officials are planning to shift the TTD Information counter located in Andhra Bhavan to this place in future. They are also contemplating to start a spiritual library in this building where in the TTD publications will be kept available.
