Today (July 31, 2012), the three-day annual festival of Salakatla Pavithrotsavams concluded on a religious note in Tirumala with Pavithra Purnahuti being performed at Yagashala in the evening inside the Tirumala shrine. The day began with religious homam at 7 am, followed by Snapana Tirumanjanam between 9am to 11am. There was a Visesha Samarpana between 1pm to 4pm followed by procession of Lord Malayappaswamy along with His consorts took place around mada streets from 4 pm to 6pm.
The utsavam was concluded with Purnahuti which took place inside the temple in Pavithra Mandapam between 7pm to 9pm.
TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas like Kalyanotsavam, unjal seva, arjitha brahmotsavam, vasanthotsavam, sahasra deeplankaraseva and VIP evening break darshan during the Pavithrosavam.

On the Second day of the Pavithrotsavam (July 30, 2012) in Sri Vari Temple, Tirumala, the holy silk threads, Pavithralu have been adorned to various divyamangala vigraha moorthies inside the sanctum sanctorum as well as the vigrahams of sub-temples located inside hill shrine including Sri Bhuvarahaswamy on Monday. After Snapana Tirumanjanam, special puja has been performed to the silk woven holy threads which are in black, blue, red, yellow and green colurs. These holy silk threads called “Pavithralu” are woven out of the special variety of high quality cotton which is grown exclusively in the land that is meant to grow Tulsi plant as they are considered to be sacred.
On this day, the annual festival of Chatrasthapanotsavam at Narayanagiri Padalu was performed with religious pomp and gaiety in Tirumala. According to temple legend, Lord Venkateswara first landed on this Narayanagiri mountain before entering into Srivari temple, which is considered to be the highest point of Seven Hills of Tirumala. To mark this ceremonial occasion, Chatrasthapanotsavam is performed where in a new traditional Umbrella was brought and special pujas were performed to Srivari Padalu.
Lord Malayappaswamy along with His consorts adorned with Pavithra Mala were taken out in a procession around four mada streets in the evening.
