THIRUNAKSHATRA MAHOTHSAVA OF SRI VAGISHA BRAHMATANTRA SWATANTRA PARAKALA SWAMI (29-6-2012 – Mithuna Masa – Swathi Nakshatram)
(32nd Jiyar – Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamy Mutt)
Added to the proficiency of Vyakarana, which had earned for him fame as ‘Second Panini’ !, this Acharya was equally well versed in all the Darshanas and by his versatility and varied talentswas able to excercise a decisive voice in the concourse of Pandiths anywhere.Tn addition to this he possessed Yogic Powers known only to a few of his acquaintances like Sri Krishna Brahmatantra Jiyar.
During a short period of twelve years ( Virodhikrith – Krodhana ),Sri KrishnaRaja Wodeyar made three public visits to the Mutt in all formality. The First was on the occasion of the ‘Annual Vidwath Sadas of Chathurmasya’ and the last on the ocassion of installing the of the of Sri Krishna Brahmatantra Jiyar in Brindavana. At the earnest request of Her Highness, Sri Maharani Vanivilasa,His Holiness more than once visited the Palace and gave Upadeshams to all members of Royal Family
Supreme simplicity, characteristic of this Great Swami attracted one and all to him! It may be mentioned that some Advaitic Scholars even received Bharanyasam from Swami. As an example of Swami’s sympathetic nature may be mentioned the fact that when ‘ His Holiness Sri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Swami ‘ of Sringeri Peetam was reported to be seriously suffering from some mental derangement, Sri Vagisha Parakala Jiyar succesfully prayed to Sri Lakshmi Hayavadana for the former’s quick recovery and when he visited Mysore in the course of his ‘Dharma Digvijayam’ Sri Vagisha Parakala Swami a messege of congratulations to the head of Sringeri Jagadguru Peetam through his accredited agent. The memory of this Great Acharya is gratefull cherished by his numerous disciples–and non-shishyas, too, who had the privilege of studying Shastras directly at his feet.
***A Remarkable attestation of Swami’s Yogic Power was the fact that , when the grave of the Swami was opened for the removal of earth after twenty years with a view to fill it afresh for the construction of Brindavana over it,the Swami’s body, Yogic Pose and all the articles buried with it were found intact !! just as they were at the time of internment ! Lest his Samadhi should be disturbed no time was lost in covering up the receptacle and erecting the Madapam over it.Such a Yogin was the Great occupant of Gadi of Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala from 1912 – 1925 AD.
