As part of the ongoing Panguni Brahmotsavam at Thirupullani, on the 10th day of Thiruppullani Panguni uthsavam, theertthavari uthsavam took place in the morning. A large number of devotees assembled and had the bhagyam of participating in the theertthavari.
After theertthavaei, Perumal, Raman and Chakkaratthazhwar , all on Eakasanam, had visesha alangara thirumanjanam. In the evening Perumal and Raman returned to the temple when pralaya kalakam took place.
It may be noted that an age old practice of Perumal and Ramar on Peria and Siriya Thiruvadis doing kadaksham on Chakkaratthazhwar theertthavari at Sri Sethu was stopped this year. Last year during Chitthirai uthsavam, on the way to Sethukkarai, Â the Kudai over Perumal entangled with a low level electrical wire and broke away causing some damage to the tail of the Siriya Thiruvadi and actually Perumal narrowly escaped from falling down and the vahanam was replaced with a pallakku after which the theertthavari was performed with Perumal on pallakku and Raman on Garuda Vahanam. This year, considering the difficulties with wires crossing at many places and also the growth of thorn trees all over the road to Sethukkarai and also the difficulty in removing them, Devasthanam authorities decided to abandon the Vahana purappadu and hence both Raman and Perumal reached Sethukkarai by pallakku (thandiyal) only.
