Parivettai Utsavam was held on Kanum Pongal day (January 16, 2012) at Madurantakam Sri Kodanda Raman temple (Eri Katha Ramar temple). This parivettai utsavam is held every year since 1994 the Eri Katha Ramar temple. This is being held on The utsava murthy Karunakara Perumal goes to nearby Karunguzhi malai which is called Jnana malai.
It is told in the Madurantakam Kshetra Maahatmyam that while Raman returning to Ayodya through Pushpaka Vimanam, the Jnanagiri this mountain raised up and stopped the vimanam reminded Sri Rama, His word that he will give darsanam with sita to Sri Vibhandaga Maharishi who is performing thapas in this kshetra. Vibhandaka maharishi is the father of Rishyasringa maharishi who performed putra kameshti yaga from which dasaratha was blessed with payasam. So Rama remembered his words and got down in this malai with Sita. So Emperuman Karunakaran the archa murthi of Rama comes to this mountain every year.

On the top of the jnanagiri mountain there is a very old unknown dated Ranganathan temple. After 1994 when Eri Katha Raman’s utsava murthy Karunakaran started coming here for parivettai, a Hanuman temple was constructed by the devotees. then slowly local people started coming to this temple and the Ranganatha temple was reconstructed.
A road to reach the top of the mountain by car or bike also laid by the devotees. There is also 250 stepts leading to the temple from Hanuman temple.
The timing of the temple is between 7am to 10am weekdays
Weekends 7 am to 12 noon.
It is just 1.5 km close to the Kallaru bridge (just before Madurantakam).
