On the 6th Nov 2011 Pavithrothsavam was held at Velamur Temple. This year is the first Pavithrothsavam in the Velamur Temple, after the Rajagopuram Mahsamprokshanam last year. This is the place of birth of Upanishad Bhashyakarar, by name, Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan. This is the same place from where the Prakirtham ( present), Srimath Anadavan started His Yaathraa to Srirangam to take to Sanyashramam in the year 1989, at the call of Srimath Tirukkudanthai Andavan.
